Asbestos Removal

A considered approach to asbestos removal is adopted at Nichol Associates. Our asbestos removal projects are carried out carefully within controlled conditions and in accordance with best practice guidelines and Health and Safety regulations.

Any buildings which were constructed or have had major refurbishment between the 1950s and mid 1980s are likely to contain some type of asbestos containing material.

We offer 3 types of removal service.

Asbestos Removal

Asbestos Removal

Licensed

These are generally higher risk materials which release asbestos fibres more easily. Work on these materials is strictly restricted to contractors who are licensed by the Health & Safety Executive.

These materials can include:

  • Sprayed Asbestos Coatings
  • Pipe & Boiler Lagging
  • Asbestos Paper & Cardboard
  • Millboard and Insulation Board

Non-Licensed

These are general low risk materials and can be removed by competent contractors who are insured to work with asbestos. Many trades still believe that because some materials have been declassified they can remove them themselves. This is not true and specialist training and insurance is required, although a licence it not.

Non-licensed materials can include:

  • Asbestos Cement
  • Textured Coatings (i.e. Artex)
  • Thermoplastic Vinyl Floor Tiles & Coverings
  • Composite Resin Materials

Contaminated

Nichol Associates provide contaminated land investigations which cover a range of issues from pollution incidents to long term redevelopment of sites.

We help our clients understand the environmental conditions at their sites from the perspective of human health, risk to controlled waters and land sale or purchase.

Land contamination projects vary by site as the use of the site and previous asbestos contamination levels determine the removal process needed. Following our inspection of the contaminated site, we will make suggestions and recommendations for the next course of action.
